Modern Cloth Nappies The best for you and your baby !

How many cloth nappies do you need?

This depends on a few factors. First of all, will you be using cloth diapers all day, every day? Or now and then when you are at home? Will you be using a cloth nappy at night too? (Tip: then buy a few extra inserts to boost absorbency!) Secondly, it depends on how often you plan to wash.

A few possible scenarios:

- Your baby is in cloth nappies every day, all day, except for when you go out for a morning or so and at night. You plan to wash everyday. You can make do with 10-12 nappies.

- Your baby is in cloth nappies every day, all day, and at night. You plan to wash every second day. You will need 6 or 7  nappies per day + extra insert for the night. You can make do with 18-21 nappies + 3 extra inserts.

- Your baby is in cloth nappies each afternoon after pre-school, and also at night. You plan to wash every second day. You can make do with 4 nappies per day + extra insert for the night. You will need 12 nappies and 3 extra inserts.

Do yourself a favour and think  for a moment how much money  you would save...

If you buy premium brand disposable nappies they will cost you between R2.00 and R3.50 each depending on the size. Let’s work with a conservative average of R2.50 and assume you go for nappies on special. The first few months of baby’s life you will change more often, up to 10-12 changes a day. Then it goes down to 4 or 5 per day as your child gets closer to 2. We will assume you will potty train around 2.5 years old. So we will work with an average of 7 nappies per day over a 2.5 year period at R2.50 per nappy.

The Maths 2.5 years x 365 days = 912.5 days in nappies x 7 nappies per day = 6387.50 nappies x R2.50 per nappy = R15 968.75 total spend on disposable nappies. Now if you bought between 12 and 20 BabyCASTLE nappies, you would save between R 11 000 and R 13 000 on nappies during those first 2.5 years. Imagine what you could do with that extra money ! Even if you do decide to use a disposable nappy at night and when you are on the go your savings will still be significant. The above is only taking into consideration 1 child, if you factor in the savings of using the same nappies for a second child you can save even more. Don’t forget the savings in bum cream – as babies in cloth nappies don’t need bum cream as nappy rashes hardly even happen !

And last, but not least the fact that you are doing our beautiful environment a huge favour.

We hope we have won you over....
